The National Lottery has stepped in after a request from Birmingham City Council for funding. The council recently announced it was no longer bankrupt but it does not have any money left for services.
1 billion pounds will be initially paid with further instalments of 1 billion as and when required.
We spoke the leader of the council Tristia Shise to find out more:
“As you know the council has suffered financially due to payments we have had to make for not paying women enough just because they were women. This left us effectively bankrupt, although we have recently balanced the books it left us with nothing for future funding”
RETURN GESTURES
This is an extremely generous gift from the National Lottery, did you give them any incentives?
“Absolutely not. This is simply a philanthropic donation from them. We have however made some return gestures to show how grateful we are of their help”
Gestures you say?
“Yes, from next month and only in Birmingham (The nation’s Lottery City!) you will be able to purchase National Lottery scratch cards from pubs and clubs as well as fast food outlets. We will also be introducing the first National Lottery vending machines into public areas and every public toilet cubicle.”
Sounds wonderful! We’re glad it’s all above board.
