All new guide dogs will be trained to cease all assistance on the spot if regular payments are not made.
The dogs will be fitted with a new microchip which will gently vibrate to let the dog know to stop whatever it is doing until a different ‘payment made’ signal is received.
The announcement was not received well with thousands of people commenting about their anger at the move.
NOBODY HAS ANY MONEY
A spokesperson for the guide dogs was unrepentant:
“Look, we understand some people are not happy about this but it’s going to happen. We are a charity and nobody has any money to donate and it looks like they will have a lot less in the future so we must take decisive action.
It’s a few quid a day and you know your trusted friend will help you cross that road. If the dog receives the signal then it is trained to sit and stay, as soon as payment is made you will be able to continue your journey.
We are also experimenting with a pay as you go model where crossing a road would be 50p or getting on a bus would be £1.00 which would really help people if they are not leaving the house on a certain day.”
