A leading investor fund has been granted permission to build on the national park.
Newsishy has been conducting an investigation into how the massively wealthy investment fund was able to get the right to build on some of the most beautiful land in the UK, we did not get far.
It appears that major government figures as well as local councillors were bribed to push the plans through without any public consultation.
We have been blocked from accessing any documents which would usually be publicly available and almost everyone we have spoken to denies any knowledge of the project despite the fact that building has already started.
LARGEST SINGLE BUILDING IN THE UK
The project is huge and will be the largest single building in the UK by far. The impact to the national park is going to be devastating, essentially covering up the entire centre of the Lake District and only leaving end sections of the main lakes Windermere and Coniston accessible.
We spoke to Wyne Swishens, an industrial engineer who specialises in large data centre projects but is not associated with this one (as far as we know).
“Those two lakes are the sole reason for building a data centre at that location. It is going to require an insane amount of water on a daily basis. I would estimate that a data centre of this magnitude will use all of the water in both Windermere and Coniston every 2 weeks.
The water will be reused but once it is used it will not support any life.”
What will this mean for the Lake District as a whole?
“It will die, there’s no other way to put it. You can’t just plonk something this size into an area of natural beauty and expect anything natural or beautiful to survive.”
A Newsishy reporter approached multiple people from both the investment fund and local government officials but did not get any answers, he was later bundled into a van by masked men and we have reported him missing.
