Currently set at £100 which was introduced during the covid pandemic, it was recently announced that banks will be able to set their own limits which could have been up to £500.
Reform UK has promised to make it mandatory for all banks issuing contactless cards in the UK to have a default maximum of £100,000, by far the highest in the world.
CORE VOTERS ARE OUT OF WORK
Newsishy spoke to Reform UK finance advisor Heston Sinessin at a press event for the announcement and asked the reasons behind the extraordinary decision:
“We are aware that most of our core voters are out of work low-lifes, they will never have a job and will never have any chance of experiencing some luxuries, that just isn’t right so we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to do a bit better.”
But how does increasing the limit do that?
“At the moment when someone nicks your card they will usually be able to run to a shop and get £100 worth of stuff, probably fags and scratchcards. That’s fine for your everyday survival but it’s not a Range Rover is it?
What we are doing is letting everybody, especially our core supporters/low-lifes get wonderful things, imagine what you can buy with £100,000, obviously they will need to be quick before cards get cancelled but it does vastly increase their chance of some decent returns.”
So you are advocating that people start doing crime?
“Absolutely not, that’s ridiculous. They are already doing crime, lots of it. We are simply giving them the opportunity to do a bit better. Plus we have to reward our core voters in some way and it certainly won’t be by improving the economy.
