The UK government is expected to announce a major overhaul of maternity & paternity leave after some MPs fell pregnant and we’re unhappy with the statutory 52 weeks given to them.
One of the pregnant MPs Lisa Ratic spoke to us outside parliament saying “Myself and the other MPs with child felt we needed more time to enjoy this special moment. We’ve had multiple meetings and came up with 16 years being the minimum amount of time a parent needs to make sure their child is cared for and prepared for life”
Full pay for all of it!
Another pregnant MP Clari Sait said “I was arguing for 18 years as 16 is still a child but they thought it was a tougher deal to get. I’m happy with the 16 years we agreed, my husband wasn’t ecstatic until I told him we’d be on full pay for all of it!
There have been mixed feelings from the public and businesses. Most individuals were pleased with the news with many saying their only goal now is to either be pregnant or find a job and then get pregnant.
Businesses on the other hand said it’s going to destroy them.
Financial analyst Martin J. Southrowy said “They are fucking insane if they think this won’t collapse the economy. This will cost more than the fucking defence budget but as long as a few MPs are happy that’s what matters I suppose.”
