Driving in the City of London has become so slow that the council is to start charging motorists parking fees for being stuck in traffic.
MP for Westminster Ruth Troyston made the announcement at a press conference this morning. “It’s gotten to the point where not charging people for sitting in their cars would be throwing away money for the city. If you choose to drive into the city we won’t stop you but each time you are stationary in traffic our cameras will know and charge you a pound a minute”
Cash grab?
We asked if this was simply a cash grab for the council? “Oh, they won’t pay in cash, it’s all electronic nowadays. We estimate a minimum of 500 million in revenue in the first 12 months with an added environmental bonus that many people will need to sell their cars after a year to pay the fees hence less pollution!”
