A major shift in the format of most of the UKs television channels is to be rolled out over the next 12 months.
The change comes as money from gambling companies ads has proved too tempting for the channels.
Adverts for 24 hours a day
Most channels will loop gambling adverts for 24 hours a day and every 15-25 minutes air an actual 3 minute segment of a programme.
We asked TV executive Hester Tisias why they are doing this and how it would affect viewers. “We are doing it for the insane amount of money they will be paying us, really, it’s almost embarrassing, almost. As for the viewers, nobody watches live anymore anyway, they’ll just need to fast forward through the ads as they have been doing, we don’t see a problem.
