89 year old Doris Thutston lived in a secluded 200 year old farmhouse with only a coal fire. So she was always looking for methods to keep warm.
Doris was a dab hand at the internet and regularly made purchases online. When she saw the full body water bottle on Alibaba she must have thought it was the end of her cold nights.
When emergency services gained access to her home after being told mail had been building up in her letterbox they were confronted with a horrific scene.
COOKED ALIVE
Doris was sitting in her chair encased in the full body water bottle, she had been slowly cooked alive.
Paramedic Pam Due was part of the team, she said “That poor lady was literally poached. It appeared she had followed the instructions and put the empty hot water bottle on and then filled it with boiling water. Fortunately she then took a sleeping tablet and drank half a bottle of whiskey. It would have felt lovely at first and thank god she was probably too off her face to feel what came afterwards.”
Local Bobby Seth Sialis was also on the team, he said “I knew Doris all my life, she was a bit nutty but that’s how you go alone out here. We laid her down on the floor and carefully cut the water bottle off her. I’ve got to be honest, she smelled like a Sunday joint and looked a bit like a haggis.”
Since Newsishy broke the story Alibaba has removed the dangerous product from their site although multiple similar items are still on sale.
