The retail industry is not happy with a new ruling from the government which they say will cause anger for customers.
The UK government issued the ruling via DEFRA following an investigation that discovered although shoppers are paying up to 60p for a standard bag and £1.50 for a Bag For Life, they are simply not using them more than once and the majority go into another Bag For Life along with many others.
MP for Wembley Olive Bassflouy announced the ruling, Newsishy spoke to her outside the houses of parliament and asked the reason for the massive price rise:
“We’ve proven that gradual price rises do not work, it hasn’t changed peoples behavior so lets see what this does?”

Newsishy spoke to shoppers outside a LIDL superstore in London:
76 year old Pam Due said “Wouldn’t bother me sweetheart, I haven’t brought a carrier bag for 15 years since getting my trolley, I love this fucking thing”
Teenager Lyon Elis said “I didn’t even know there was a bag charge already!
A guy in a hoodie who declined to give his name said “I’m ready, me and my mates have been nicking our moms bags of bags so we’ve got hundreds. As soon as this law comes in we’re outside the shops selling them for a fiver, bosh.”
