Leon Art was thrilled to pass his test on the first attempt four months after becoming legal to drive in the UK. He went straight out looking for his first car and was chuffed to find a 2009 Vauxhall Corsa he could afford at £1500.
Dad drove the car home and they went online looking for insurance, it was a depleting experience. The lowest quote they were able to get was £350,000 for one year fully comp.
NOTHING WORKED
They tried multiple comparison sites and fiddled with the options such as storing the car in their garage overnight rather than the drive, Leon not using the car for work and having a device fitted to monitor driving. Nothing worked.
After 2 months they finally found a lower quote for £270,000 but decided to leave it as it was more expensive than their fucking house.
Leon will be taking the bus until he is 18 at which point they will try again and get a similar result.
